about
Ned Zether was born in the town of Smythwick. Located centrally in the Hamlet of Chesterborough, it was like a mud patch in an otherwise plush surrounding. Known for its attraction to desolate and soulless types; a filth-haven that allowed for those vermin to peddle in smut. Littered with strip joints, dive bars and all manners of illicit activities, it offered the occasional passerby a cheap thrill they'd soon learn to regret. Ned, as they called him, was a young boy, whose mother took to the pole for her earnings. Living such a dark and meaningless existence seemed to not matter, as if he was almost untouched by it. Later earning his right in the world, he grew up to be Dr. Zether. He was an odd man, whose bold imagination could only be compared to the strength of a 1000-year-old tree, nourishing itself with the soil around it. He made many inventions throughout his lifetime, but it seemed that only one had come to fruition. Not that he wasn’t capable of finishing other inventions, but the technology to create such devices did not even exist! And thus was born the CRM-114, and it remained the only one - the one thing Ned truly loved. You see, an owner and pet will sometimes mimic each other physically, inseparable in demeanor. Well for Ned, there was no pet. Not in the traditional sense of course. For this mad scientist, his pet was a vessel through which he had been able to travel through the energetic root-like forces in the universe, connecting with all living beings in fluid rhythm - These are called Threads. Legend has it, that a friend of his mother, who watched over him while his mother earned her salary, asked Ned if he wanted a quid for candy. He responded with: “We are like bright, white roots of fiber that are at separate speeds growing out of the core of the universe. What is a quid worth to this?" He was only 9. And so grew, the legend of Ned Zether - the boy who grew into an instrument. Navigating through time and space, swaying everything in his direction.
